NAKED LADY PARTY (v3)

A clothing swap & upcycle event for ladies only.

Sat., Oct. 2nd.  7 to 10pm

Winter is almost here and it's time for our 3rd Naked Lady Party! Clean out your closets, gather at least one bag of clothing, shoes, purses or jewelry, and head on down to Sew Deluxe on Saturday, October 2nd at 7pm.

We will have wine, gourmet snacks, and lots of fun! As always, we will have the sewing machine set up and ready for you to upcycle, tailor or refashion your finds. It is a party not to be missed! Space is limited so please reserve your spot early by calling 210-326-4945 or emailing sewdeluxe@gmail.com. Also, sorry guys, this is a GIRLS ONLY event - so pass this on to the ladies in your life.

This time we will be teaming up with "Swap for Good" an organization dedicated to raising money and awareness for domestic violence shelters. Check them out at http://www.swapforgood.org/. October is "National Domestic Violence Awareness" month, and this is a wonderful opportunity for you to do your part. Get a new wardrobe and help raise money for a critical life-saving cause at the same time. $15 minimum donation at the door will go directly to the Bexar County Battered Women's Shelter. As always, left over clothing will be split between Dress for Success and the Children's Shelter of San Antonio.

One Million Pillowcase Challenge

Calling all quilters, sewers and crafters! American Patchwork & Quilting is challenging you to join our efforts to Make a Pillowcase, Make a Difference. Every pillowcase can make a difference in our community. A pillowcase can provide comfort for a cancer patient, hope for a foster child, encouragement for a battered woman, or beauty for a nursing home resident.

To participate, come on out to Sew Deluxe and join us at our One Million Pillowcase Challenge event.  Don't know how to sew?  That's okay - this is the perfect opportunity to learn some of the basics! Once your pillowcases are complete and donated we will log them into the All People Quilt site to be counted. All pillows will be donated to local charities and will benefit San Antonio residents.

FRIDAY, AUGUST 20, 2010
6:30PM - 9:30PM

It's BYOM&F!!

What does that mean? Bring your own machine & fabric! Sew-Deluxe has a few machines but definitely not enough for a whole group. Plus it's so much easier sewing on your own machine. We're also asking that everyone who attends to bring a yard (or more) of 100% cotton woven fabric. If you're unsure of what to get, ask for cotton wovens or "quilting fabrics" at the fabric store.

This event is sponsored by Alamo City Handmade, Sew-Deluxe, and Etsy.  The kind people at AllPeopleQuilt.com will be sending us a box of free materials to make our party a success.

Feel free to bring light snacks, a potluck dish or drinks.
Please RSVP for this event at Meetup for a chance to win a special goody-bag provided by Alamo City Handmade & Sew-Deluxe!

Corazon: A fundraiser & birthday party for Camren Baron

Dear Friends,

I am helping to organize a fundraiser and birthday party for Camren Barron, my cousin Eva Garcia's son.  Camren was born with a congenital heart defect and has endured numerous heart surgeries, hospital stays and doctor's visits. We will be hosting a BBQ plate sale, raffle and silent art auction at Sew-Deluxe on Saturday, September 4th from 4pm to 10pm.

If there is any way that you can contribute any of the following, your kindness would be greatly appreciated.

*Artwork for the Silent Auction
*Raffle items (gift certificates, gift baskets, miscellaneous items)
*BBQ meat, side dishes, deserts, beverages for children and adults, plates, cups, napkins, utensils, charcoal for the Plate Sale
*Monetary contributions to cover the cost of party supplies and to directly help the family.

If you are not able to contribute at this time, we understand. But if you are, we will need to know as soon as possible, and we ask that all donations be received (or arrangements made) by Monday, August 30th. Contact Missy at sewdeluxe@gmail.com or 210-831-4729.

Please mark your calendar and plan to attend the event, EVERYONE IS WELCOME, on Saturday, September 4th from 4 to 10pm. There will be live music, BBQ plates, silent auction, raffles, and birthday activities for the kids.

If you know me and you know Eva...then you know WE KNOW HOW TO PARTY!

Please join us and help celebrate 7years with Camren and surround him with lots of love to carry him on for many more years to come!

ETSY Craft Party

Sorry for the short notice, but if you are our FACEBOOK friend you might have already heard....WE'RE HAVING A PARTY TONIGHT and you are invited!

San Antonio Craft Party at Sew-Deluxe…Let’s make stuff!

Celebrate Etsy’s birthday with Alamo City Handmade and Sew-Deluxe on June 18th.

In May, Etsy, an internet marketplace where you can buy and sell all things handmade, launched “Etsy Craft Party”, a global initiative to energize local communities, provide an opportunity for people to make art together, and a good excuse to throw a party. Alamo City Handmade (previously Alamo City Etsy) members Brandy Garcia (B.Link) and Tara Burkholder (StellaSola) joined forces with Sew-Deluxe to organize one of the world’s top 50 parties (size of meetup.com RSVP list), earning an official ETSY party kit for the San Antonio shindig.

The party starts at 7pm and is FREE and open to guests of all ages who would like to join the craft-along. Enjoy DIY (do-it-yourself) make-n-take stations, including: Silk-Screening, Button Making, Business Card Design, a Knitting Circle, and several other exciting crafts. Most materials will be supplied free of charge, however guests are encouraged to bring a t-shirt or tote for the screen-printing station and ceramics (from the thrift store is fine) to use with the Etsy provided paints. Donations of pens, markers, fabric markers, scrap paper, glue, and thumbtacks will be gratefully accepted.

Wine has been generously donated by Alamo Draft House. Gourmet hor d’oevres made from the finest locally grown ingredients will be provided by G&G Mobile Bistro, San Antonio’s newest eclectic cuisine “taco-truck” usually parked on the banks of the San Antonio Riverwalk at 1210 E. El Mira, Wednesday through Saturday nights. Door prizes will be provided by Alamo City Handmade, Alamo Draft House Cinema, and Etsy.

Alamo City Handmade and Sew-Deluxe would like to make this event one of many in connecting the tremendous DIY talent that exists in San Antonio. Support local, support handmade!

Friday, June 18, 2010. 7pm to 10pm. At Sew-Deluxe (1132 S. Hackberry #1, San Antonio, TX 78210)

Full page (5" wide x 8" tall) = $40

Article submissions are due by May 21st.

Ad space will need to be paid for by May 21st and final artwork (xerox copy ready) will need to be submitted by May 28th.
